The use of this circuit is not limited to only security related purposes but it can also be used for other purposes like for automatic room lamp that will be activated automatically when you will enter in the room. The circuit can also be used as an energy saver by automatically switching OFF the appliances of your room or any desired place when you leave.

The main part of the circuit is a PIR sensor module that is readily available in the market. This module contains some variable resistors from which you can adjust its sensitivity and timing. These details can be found in the guide that comes with the module.

The 555 timer IC is used to enhance the activation time of the 230V lamp. The timing of the circuit can be increase by replacing the 470uF capacitor with a higher value one. The timing can be adjusted with the 1M variable resistor.

The circuit is also using a dark sensor that is built around a 2N3906 transistor. A 100K variable resistor is used to adjust the sensitivity to detect darkness. If you want to use the circuit for hole day and not only for night then remove the dark sensor stage of the circuit which contains 2N3906, LDR, 100K variable resistor and a 1K resistor and directly connected the circuit with the supply as shown in the figure 2.
