Here is a circuit built with a famous 555 timer IC. In this circuit the 555 timer IC is wired as a negative voltage generator. The circuit can be used for negative and dual supply requirements.  
Working of the circuit is simple the square wave is generated at the output pin 3 of the IC. During the cycle of the square wave
when there is positive voltage then the 22uF capacitor connected at the output of the IC charges through D1 and when there is negative voltage then this capacitor discharges through D2 and the 33uF capacitor become charge due to which the output of the circuit will be always negative.
