Here is a very interesting project of a multiple style flasher using 555 ICs. The circuit can be adjusted to blink the LEDs in different styles by adjusting the 100K variable resistors. In the diagram we have operated the circuit with 12V DC but it can also be operated from any voltage between 6 to 15V DC.

If you are operating the circuit from low voltage for example with 9 volt then use two LEDs in the place of three with both ICs and use a suitable current limiting resistor with them. The number of LEDs can also be increased but the output of NE555 IC is around 200mA due to which you can only add a limited number of LEDs. For further increasing the number of LEDs a NPN transistor at the output of IC2 and IC3 can be connected.

The circuit will provide very good flashing effects, a relay can also be connected at the output of IC2 and IC3 to flash 220V bulbs or any DC bulbs.

The circuit is using three NE555 ICs, each of them are wired as an astable multivibrator here. The first IC or IC1 is connected directly with the supply and the other two ICs are connected with the output of the IC1. The IC1 is providing power to the other two ICs one by one at a time.
