You can also use any digital voltmeter by selecting the function for measuring 10 or 20 volt DC. By using a digital millimeter you can also determine the minor changes in the light intensity. The sensitivity of the circuit can be adjusted with the 200K variable resistor.

Working of the circuit
When LDR or Light dependent resistor will receive light on its surface then its resistance will start decreasing due to which the transistor becomes switch ON and the voltage starts passing through the transistor. As the amount of light will increase or decrease on the surface of the LDR the voltage will also increase or decrease across the transistor and measured by the voltmeter.

This simple light intensity meter circuit can be used to determine the intensity of light in a wide variety of electronic projects and experiments. The circuit is very simple and handy using only few components which are an LDR, variable resistor, transistor and meter. The circuit is using a 0 to 10 volt analog meter.
