The project shown here is a 6V battery backup circuit. The circuit is easy to build and work as a mini UPS for 6V devices. The circuit is using a LM7806 voltage regulator IC which will convert 12V to 6V and provide a regulated output. The circuit is using a 12V lead acid battery of any Amp Hour (AH) which will 

provide backup when the input voltage is absent, the circuit will shift on the battery instantly due to which the operated electronic device will not face any restart. The output current of the circuit is 1A which is suitable for driving many electronic devices. It is better to use a automatic 12V battery charger circuit or ready made automatic 12V battery charger instead of 12V plug pack because the automatic battery charger will not over charge the battery. Remove the diode D1 when using 12V battery charger, use a suitable heatsink with the IC.
