This simple project of 230V LED flasher using 555 can be used to flash 12 or more LEDs with the mains supply. The circuit is easy to make and using only few components. The circuit is not using any transformer supply and directly connected to AC mains through a capacitor power supply.

The voltage from the AC mains is dropped by the 330nF 400V capacitor. The 1N4007 diode bridge rectifies the voltage coming from the 330nF capacitor. The 330uF 25V capacitor is used to filter the voltage and a 12V 1W zener diode is used to step down the voltage to 12V to operate the LED flasher circuit. The LED blinker circuit is built around a 555 timer IC that is wired as an astable multivibrator here. The circuit is using 12 LEDs, which will blink in flip flop manner, the blinking speed can be controlled by the 100K variable resistor. The circuit is directly connected to the AC mains therefore do not touch it when it is connected to the AC.

Note: Many points of this circuit are at AC mains voltage. It could give you lethal shock if you are not careful. If you don't know much about working with AC line voltages do not attempt to construct this circuit.
